Also known as King William's Pine. A native of Japan and Southern China. Popular in Japan as an ornamental and as a bonsai. Although it is called the Japanese cedar, it is not a true cedar (Cedrus). It has blue-green foliage, soft to the touch and peeling red bark. It has small needles 3/4 inch or smaller. The foliage of some cultivars will become bronzed during the winter but will green up again in spring. The Radicans will keep its deep blue-green color all year and will grow up to 50 ft tall. More than 200 cultivars of this tree have been named. "
