Monstera deliciosa commonly known as Swiss cheese plant or fruit salad plant is native to tropical rain forests of Panama and Mexico.
It can reach up to a height of around 20 meters and it has beautiful heart shaped, glossy leaves.
Since the flowers contain both male and female organs Monstera deliciosa is able to self pollinate.
How To Take Care Of Monstera Deliciousa Plant
Monstera plants are not very difficult to maintain but they do require a right mix of water, sunlight and correct temperature.
The monstera deliciousa plant does not require direct sunlight. It should be kept in a spot where it received indirect filtered sunlight. You need to change the plants position if you see the leaves reaching out for sunlight.
The plant should be watered when you notice that around top two inche of soil is dry. The monstera plant prefers well drained peaty soil. Too much water can kill the roots so avoid over watering.
The plant of monstera deliciousa is a tropical plant and prefers humid atmosphere. You can mist the plant once every week for enhanced humidity and its better health. This is if you live in an area which is dry.
The plant is prone to mealybugs and spider mites. Wiping the leaves weekly will help in keeping it healthy and pest free.
